Club News

Davidson Cup/Gents NNL Team

On Sunday 25th April we played host to opponents Newcastle United GC in the men's scratch knockout cup. A strong side from Newcastle was always a tough draw, but with help from having home advantage and a clutch Kevin Henderson winning on the 19th hole, Alnmouth won 3-2.

Well done to S Slater, R Balmbra, L Denny, K Henderson and J Henderson. Best of luck for the start of the league season and a long cup run too hopefully!

Pro-Am

Thursday 30th September sees us host our annual Pro-Am. Teams are starting to sell quickly thanks to a great day hosting our pro series event a couple of weeks ago (Thanks to everyone involved for making that such a success!). The format is 3 amateurs playing with a PGA Professional in a team format. The cost is £240 per team and includes a sandwich & coffee before play and a one-course buffet meal after.

If you want more details or an entry form please contact the office or the pro shop. Joe will be looking to play too, anyone wanting to enter a team with him please get in touch!

Charity Golf Day

The Rotary Club of Amble and Warkworth are again hosting their event at the golf club. The date this year is 14th of July. Teams of 4 at £120 each is open to men, ladies or mixed teams. Proceeds raised are donated towards the Bobby Robson Foundation, Great North Air Ambulance and the North Northumberland Hospice Care team.

Pro V1 Ball Draw

Winners Saturday 24th April - Dozen S Lister, Sleeve K Batson

We are running this every Saturday now. £1 a number and at least a dozen Pro V1 balls on offer to the winner. Pop into the shop to enter between 7am and 3pm.

Stock

Some stock as mentioned is getting tricky to manage with huge demand. Some companies are very good for stock level but the demand itself is just slowing down the process of getting it out. Some custom build sets are looking at a 4-6 week turnaround now so please if you are considering any new equipment get in touch and get it ordered sooner than later before there are potentially big wait times.

We also have stock of electric trollies from Motocaddy, we have two S1 trollies in stock (at long last!) These are sure to go fast again - price matched at £499 with 18-Hole lithium batteries.

If you are interested get in touch, we are lead to believe that the next delivery of these will be in about 6-8 weeks time.

Golf on Tour

What a shoot-out!

The Zurich Classic – a unique tournament that flip-flops between fourball & foursomes formats – served up one of the most enthralling shoot-outs of the year on Sunday evening as Australia and South Africa added another classic sporting rivalry to the list.

The team from Down Under, Cameron Smith & Mark Leishman, traded birdies and bogeys in frantic fashion with South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel. After Smith found the water on the 17th, Leishman chipped-in to save the day. A rash drive into the drink from Oosthuizen in the playoff proved far more costly; failing to recover and handing the Aussies a hard-fought, thrilling victory in New Orleans.
